I'm insane...

Okay, so it is official. Vicky has left the building. The Crossfire is closed... and Allison and I didn't even steal the plate we wanted... but we do have the pen. And actually now we do have the couch. I hope us stealing the pen a year ago didn't cause them to go under...

So, that bakery/tea house/treatshop we talked about starting maybe someday in a few years is suddenly a reality. Now.

And I think I might be insane to think I can do this.

feet

Home from the ball, and I didn't take my shoes off the whole time.
I have the bleeding sores to prove it.

I was hot though.

Fire

Today I set the kitchen on fire with oil.

The fire alarms work though!

Sundays

Laundry Day. Colophon Day. Insley works at the bookstore day.

Missing Thursday for court and Friday for the funeral has made me feel really far behind. And working Saferide Friday night and Saturday night, plus throwing Blackhearts on Saturday has made me feel like I have no time to catch up.

I had all this motivation and I lost it all.

justice?

Basically we lost. The judge ruled that I owe half of the rent for Nov, Dec, Jan, and Feb. He told him he would have to re-file after I don't pay rent for future months, that he can't rule for rent I might not pay in the future.

We plan to appeal, we've already chosen a lawyer.

In other news, Sophie's father passed away. I'm going to the funeral tomorrow to be with her.

The wind has done nothing but howl through the windows as it grows steadily colder. It is supposed to snow on Saturday.

Spring is a tease

Sunday the last of the snow melted away as the temperature hit sixty. In the sun it was quite warm. Even though I knew spring was just teasing me, I ripped the plastic off all the drafty windows, pulled out my razor blade to fight the paint and the swelling wood. After a while I had a few of them open, creating a wonderful cross breeze and finally letting in the fresh air.

I spent my lazy morning curled on the couch, feeling the outside come inside and listening to all the people of Chestertown down below. In the afternoon we walked all around, but of course everything was closed as it was past noon on Sunday.

Tired of cooking, we ordered a pizza, and pulled out the chairs and little table that once lived on the balcony in the old apartment. We sat them at the bottom of the stairs on cross street, filled two glasses with iced tea, and sat in the sun while we waited for our pizza to arrive.

In a few weeks we're getting a screen door installed at the top of the stairs, making a "mini" porch that Elby can go out on and allowing air flow on all four sides of the apartment.

As cute and wonderful winter has been here, I am so excited for spring and summer.

Not a Leader

Just a follower.

As my all my friends fly away to distant lands and blog, I have decided to hold down the home front the same way. I have never written a blog before, I don't think I will be particularly good at it and I don't have anything particularly interesting to blog about.
